Blown-in & batt options for every attic.

Option 1

Blown-In Fiberglass

Loose-fill fiberglass blown to any depth. Best for filling irregular attic spaces, around obstructions, and achieving precise R-values without custom cutting. Requires blowing machine (available to rent).

R-30 · R-38 · R-49 · R-60+
Option 2

Attic Batt Rolls

Unfaced fiberglass rolls laid between or over existing joists. Ideal for retrofit over existing insulation and accessible attic spaces. No equipment needed — easier to DIY or use smaller crews.

R-11 · R-19 · R-25 · R-30 · R-38

What R-value does your attic need?

The IECC sets minimum attic insulation requirements by climate zone. Below are the standard code minimums — many energy-efficient builders exceed these.

Climate Zone States / Region Min. Attic R-Value Recommended
Zone 1–2 FL, HI, Southern TX R-30 R-38
Zone 3 TX, GA, SC, LA, MS R-38 R-49
Zone 4 VA, MD, KY, OR, WA (coast) R-49 R-49–60
Zone 5–6 IL, OH, PA, NY, CO, WA (inland) R-49 R-60
Zone 7–8 MN, ND, MT, AK R-49 R-60+

* Always verify with your local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) as codes vary by municipality.

The attic is the highest-ROI upgrade in any home.

01

Most attics are under-insulated

Studies show the majority of existing U.S. homes have attics at R-11 to R-19 — well below current code minimums. Upgrading to R-49 or R-60 is a straightforward job with massive energy savings for your clients.

02

High volume = more margin

An average home attic needs 50–200 bags of blown-in. At wholesale pricing, that's a meaningful per-job margin improvement versus sourcing retail. We have no minimum — one house or twenty.

03

Next-day delivery keeps jobs on schedule

Attic jobs often need to be done before drywall or before an energy audit. Our next-day delivery on stocked product means you can schedule jobs with confidence — no more waiting on big-box restocks.

Common questions about attic insulation.

Blown-in or batt — which should I use?

Blown-in fills irregularities and achieves any R-value without cutting. It's preferred for new construction and retrofit where you want maximum coverage. Batts are better for accessible spaces where equipment isn't available or when doing work in phases.

Can I add to existing attic insulation?

Yes, in most cases. Blown-in can go over existing blown-in or batts. If the existing material is damaged, wet, or moldy, it should be removed first. Use unfaced batts when adding over existing insulation — facing must face the living space.

How many bags for a typical attic?

Use our bag calculator for a precise estimate. As a rough guide: a 1,500 sq ft attic to R-49 typically needs 50–80 bags of blown-in, depending on the product's coverage table.

Do you deliver blowing machines?

We don't supply blowing machines, but they're available to rent at most tool rental locations. Call us and we can point you toward options in your area.
